ZOË PARRISH
NYC-BASED
ACTOR / DIRECTOR

ABOUT ME
I started dancing at the age of 3, performing in the Nutcracker for 7 years... but for as long as I can remember, I have always had a passion for singing. I was 12 years old when my mom secretly signed me up for a theatre camp. As nervous and afraid as I was, I learned a very important lesson: Mother always knows best. The theatre bug bit and I have been glued to the stage (and behind the scenes) ever since!
I performed, and worked on crew, in a number of productions throughout my middle school and high school years in Texas until I graduated in 2021. Since then I have moved to New York City, graduated from the Institute for American Musical Theatre (under director Michael Minarik), and performed in a variety of NYC Workshops and productions.
For as long as I can remember, seeing the process of a show come together has been my favorite thing in the world. I was always the first to arrive to rehearsal and last to leave, because I simply didn't want to miss a second! Of course, I learned in my first year of performing, that you don't always see your name on the cast list... but I still wanted to be there, even if it wasn't on stage. From then on, anything I could get my hands on- assisting, stage managing, running crew, tech team, shadowing, sneaking into rehearsals to watch from the corner- I was there. I was so eager to know all the ins and outs of what brought a show to life...
During my third year at school I had the pleasure of working with Ryan Emmons (Associate Dir. Kimberly Akimbo, Water for Elephants), which led me to the world of directing. I directed my first production in the Spring of 2024: Into the Woods, and it truly changed my life. The love I had for performing mixed with my love for "the process", and created a passion for directing that I never expected to find. Needless to say, that dang theatre bug just keeps biting! I have been very blessed to have assisted and directed several productions and workshops here in NYC and Texas throughout the past year, and am so excited to see what's next!
When not performing or directing, I spend most of my days working as a personal assistant, songwriting, crocheting, cooking up a storm in the kitchen, or taking *full advantage* of my AMC A-List membership!
